Charles E. Barber's famous 1891 Liberty quarter pattern. This design as illustrated went into regular production the following year but with a different reverse without the clouds above the eagle. This particular reverse design was also used on a half dollar pattern J1762/P1976.
The production reverse was apparently copied from the design used on the half dollar J1763/P1978.
Only 2 examples are known both of which are in the Smithsonian.
