This is a die trial, in white metal, for the second seated liberty design but without date and stars and before the drapery was added. I believe it is the piece misdescribed as a dime splasher P3070 by Pollock. Because of this, we have assigned it as number P3069.
It is believed unique and was part of the materials purchased by the Library Company of Philadelphia from Maxwell Whiteman.
It is listed as inventory #10 which was described as a duplicate JA1837-1/P3043 in error.
