This is the famous trade dollar with head facing right by William Barber. The obverse design was copied and combined with the Amazonian reverse to produce a half eagle J1337-J1339/P1481-P1483.
Only 2 examples are confirmed: To see images of all of these, click here.
1) Wellinger (Mehl 10/23 lot 748?), Morgenthau 9/35 lot 394, Burke-Bowers and Merena 5/94, Saul Teichman. This is the Taxay plate coin and is illustrated above. Click on the thumbnail to see an enlargement. It appears to have been flattened in a vice possibly to try to fix a dent - a huge mistake by a prior owner !!
2) Woodside, Woodin, Newcomer, Boyd, Farouk, Judd, Fred-B/M 11/95, Superior 5/06, southern collection, Simpson-Heritage 4/21 - PCGS64 which has laminations on the left side. This is the Judd, Adams and Woodin and Pollock plate coin and is illustrated below.

One of these is ex Woodward's 101st Vicksburg II (9/1888) sale and 104th Stetson (1/1889) sale.
