Although described as regular dies trial pieces, these were deliberately struck for sale to collectors as part of complete off-metal sets.
Examples were struck as follows:
Copper J1346. This is unlisted in Pollock. If any do exist, they are probably masquerading as a regular issue proof.
Aluminum J1347/P1490 with only 2 or 3 examples are believed to exist.
There is also a listing for this piece in nickel J1347A/P1491. We believe this piece to be a mint error struck either on a planchet intended for a foreign coin or on a nickel 3 cent planchet. For more on this, click here.
