1827

This year is marked by the famous 1827 restrike quarter, struck in copper, J48/P49 which was actually deliberately struck by the mint from rusted dies in the 1870s along with its silver counterparts for sale to collectors. Henry Linderman, director of the mint, actually had 2 silver restrikes in his own collection along with restrikes of many other famous pieces.
