This was a quiet year on the pattern front. Experiments on a smaller cent continued using the flying eagle design of last year on 2 of that year's reverses J172/P198. The first testing of aluminum occurs with the striking of a half dollar J175/P202 A gold dollar J175A/P203 trial struck in white metal is also listed in the reference works but these have been found to be fake.
