This year is known for a Martha Washington cent J2180/P4100 struck on the copper-plated zinc planchets which began this year. As the mint gave out these all-purpose dies to outside contractors, it is likely that at least some of these were struck outside the mint. We are not sure what year this piece was actually struck.
