These extremely rare patterns were had cut by James Longacre and not die struck. Each example, therefore, is unique unto itself. It appears that Longacre used whatever alloy he could find to strike these and thus all attributions below are tentative. Much of this information comes from The Numismatist in October 2011, written by Ed Rector.

1) Merkin 9/67, NERCA 7/79 ANA lot 1288, Heritage 6/87 as proof AU50, Heritage 6/97 as PCGSAU53, later Simpson-Heritage 1/24 FUN – PCGS62 23.4 grains

2) Flanagan-Stacks 3/44 lot 1559, J.F. Bell ? Farouk, Bareford-Stacks 12/78, Heritage 4/15 – PCGS61 22.76 grains, specific gravity 18.0, 90% gold, 3.5% silver, 6.5% copper

3) Boyd, Judd, Wilkison, B/M 11/02, Stacks 7/08 lot 4163, Heritage 3/11 – PCGS60, 16.4 grains with specific gravity 13.66, 51% gold, 25% silver, and 23% copper

4) Farouk, Schermerhorn, Kelly 56 ANA, Wilkison, Hughes 1/80, Stacks 6/99, Berngard-Stacks 7/08 lot 4164 – PCGS61 20.37 grains, 51% gold, 32% silver, 17% copper

Silver (gold plated) J116/P131 with the following attributed as such:

1) Chase Manhattan Bank – Smithsonian 15.28 grains

2) Reed-Durham Museum - ICG60 17.02 grains

3) Bushnell-S.H. & H. Chapman, Garrett-JHU, Garrett II-B/R 3/80, B/M 11/97, Goldberg 5/03, Simpson-Heritage 1/22 - PCGS62 19.2 grains

4) NERCA 7/79 ANA lot 1287, B/M 11/84 - proof 60 hairlines 19 grains

Note: Specific gravity tests are recommended as weight alone is not a good measure of the true nature of these pieces nor is the belief that those pieces with a stop after the 9 in date are the gold ones as mentioned by Pollock.
